LeeRoy Jeffries

July 11, 1933 – June 27, 2022

 

LeeRoy “Catman,” Jeffries was born to the late LeeRoy, Sr. and Sarah Francis Evans in Brownsville, TN on July 11, 1933.  He was the first born of three from this union and was blessed with a loving family. 

 

Leeroy entered the military service as a Marine in 1952.  He served honorably achieving the rank of Corporal and was a veteran of the Korean War; earning the Korean Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Presidential Unit Citations; completing his commission on December 21, 1954.   

 

On May 7, 1966 he married Doris Moore and was a loving father of four children.  Along with his parents, two siblings and four generations of grand-children, nieces & nephews, Leeroy was blessed with a fruitful family who loved him dearly.  He quietly departed this life June 27, 2022 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo, New York.  He was preceded in death by his parents Leeroy Sr. and Sarah, and his nephew Mark Draper. 

 

He is survived by the mother of his children, Doris M. Moore and children Brenda Jeffries-Silmon (Calvin), Michelle Jeffries, Veronica Moore (Darryl Simmes) and son Curtis Jeffries. His grandchildren Andrea Lynch, Awtumn Miles (Demond), Terrance Jeffries, Amaris Hardy (Dejuan). Great-Grandchildren, and Great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

 

LeeRoy was a man of few words but a man of action and hard worker throughout his lifetime.  He retired as a Cement Mason from Local 111 of Western New York and enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life, such as recounting funny memories, gathering and talking with friends and family, enjoying a good cigar, listening to good music and watching sports.  Catman's beautiful life will forever be cherished with love by all.

 

Family and friends may visit St. Martin de Porres Church, 555 Northampton St., Buffalo, NY 14208 on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 10 am -11 am.  Funeral service will immediately follow at 11AM. A private burial will be held for the family at WNY National Cemetery.
