Obituary of Richard D. Ricupito
Ricupito, Richard D. of Lancaster passed away suddenly on Monday, July 19, 2021 at the age of 71. He was born December 12, 1949 in Buffalo, NY. Richard was the youngest of two sons and five daughters.
Richard was a loving husband and married the love of his life, Lana Marlane (nee Roth Derbsch) on May 22, 1971. Surviving in addition to his wife are his two sisters, Patricia (James) Makowski and Joanne Ricupito, two children, Jeffery (Camille) of Corona, CA and Mark (Julie) of Batavia, NY. Richard was also survived by three grandchildren, Andrew (18), Ryan (16) and Kate (15).
He spoke fondly of his days at Hutch tech High School and went on to attend Erie Tech and University of Buffalo. He was formerly employed by Niagara Mohawk and the National Grid Group, where he worked in planning.
He cherished the time with his sons and grandchildren, not only attending as many of their sporting events as he could, but also coaching them in Little League Baseball and soccer. Richard loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed fishing, hiking, and traveling. His many travels included driving across the continental U.S., Florida, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Maine, Mexican and Caribbean cruises and Europe. He was an avid sports fan and loved attending Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Bisons, and Bandit games.
To know Richard was to love him and he loved spending time with his many friends. He had a larger than life personality and a great sense of humor and was always quick with a story or a joke. Rick’s life was celebrated by family on July 22, 2021. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
