WEBER - Ernest M. Of East Aurora, entered into rest on February 1, 2019, age 91, dearest husband of Jeanette; devoted father of James, Dawn (Scott) and Cindy (Dan); cherished grandfather of Jaime and Jordan; adored great-grandfather of Jon, Nick and Ben; dear brother of Paul and the late Fritz, Walter, Mike, Helen, Fritzie and June; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ernest was a WWII Army veteran of the Special Investigation Detail Division, a Teamster truck driver of 40 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and VFW of East Aurora. He inspired and touched the hearts of many through his unique style of fiddling and banjo picking. Ernest started playing bluegrass music at the age of 7 with his brothers Walt and Fritz. He is inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and received the Roycroft Stott Award, the 2016 Bill Kirchen Pioneer Award and many more. One of his greatest joys was opening for the Osbourne Brothers. His legacy will live on as one last time as he boards the "Orange Blossom Special" to take him home to unite with friends and family and make beautiful music from above.
A Remembrance Mass will be held Thursday morning (February 14th) at 8 o'clock at St. Vincent de Paul's Church in Springbrook. Arrangements by LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel).
